Parish Links
Both formal and informal links connect the parish and its
people to many other individuals, groups, parishes and
churches. Many people still have close links with their
places of birth or rearing, some in the City, but many
outside in rural Ireland. As we travel in Ireland, or visit
other countries, we form links with individuals and
churches. Similarly others who visit our parish often make
valuable lasting connections with us. More formal links
exist at diocesan and world levels.
Christ Church Cathedral is the mother church of the
Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough. Web address: http://www.cccdub.ie/ The Rector is a Canon of
the Cathedral. Through the Mothers' Union, the annual
diocesan school service, the Rector's two weeks in
"residence" and by virtue of other functions, such as a
book launch and missionary projects, we have much contact
with the Cathedral.

As Killiney (Ballybrack), Rathmichael and Kilternan
parishes together initiate a new Church Army Ministry we
look forward to closer links between these adjoining
parishes. With the Church Amy Officer working in and
between the parishes we hope to work in a more
collaborative way, enabling the critical mass to assist in
youth work and in prayer and discussion activities. Already
this new ministry link has been flagged up. We hope it will
be inaugurated early in 2004. Traditionally Church of
Ireland parishes have pastored their own parishioners.
Through the work of Church Army we hope to become more
aware of those on the fringe and outside the church for
whom also Christ died that they might have life in Him.
Collaboration within our parishes will also increase our
contact and interaction with each of the Roman Catholic
parishes already working alongside the individual Church of
Ireland parishes. Rev. Ian Poulton, Killiney Rectory, 21
Killiney Avenue, Killiney, Co. Dublin. Canon Fred Appelbe,
Rathmichael Rectory, Shankill, Co. Dublin.
Sunday by Sunday we are linked in prayer with other
parishes in the united Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough
(diocesan cycle of prayer). An Anglican cycle of prayer
connects us to the wider world-wide church.
Here in Kilternan we have excellent relationship with
Sandyford parish which includes Sandyford, Ballyogan,
Kilternan and Glencullen. Their contact address is The
Parish Office, St. Mary's Church, Sandyford, Dublin 18.
Outside the dioceses we continue to have contact with:
Rev. Tim Close, Dean's Vicar, St. Ann's Cathedral Belfast,
Donegall Street, Belfast. BT1 2HB.
Rev. Ruth Jackson, Curate Assistant, St. Mark's Church,
Portadown, Co. Armagh.
Rev. Mark Loney, Curate Assistant, Larne and Inver
Parishes, Larne, Co. Antrim.
The parish has mission support links with:
Ronnie and Maggie Briggs, CMSI, who are serving in Kajaido
Diocese, Kenya. e-mail: cmsidublin@ireland.anglican.org
The Rector and his wife, Isabel, have close links with the
Leprosy Mission with its national office at 5, St. James
Terrace, Clonskeagh Road, Dublin 6.
e-mail: leprosymission1@eircom.net
and with TLM Hospital, Naini, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh,
India
and with Anandaban Leprosy Mission Hospital, near
Katmandu, Nepal.

Through all of these, and others, we are linked with one
another and with Christ in bringing his love, peace and joy
to the world.
