Children and Family ministry is a central pillar of a healthy church. We are in a part of Dublin that is booming with young families. Our parish list is young and we want to build on that.
Children are central to our life and vitality.
At Kilternan parish, we want to model a strong children’s ministry. We hope some of the programmes and services below will help us to achieve that.
All Age Worship
All age worship is a biblical effort to gather in such that the full family of God is included and involved. It is not a service for the children, nor is it a service for the adults with a children’s talk tacked on the end. It is an intentional effort to ensure our worship is as accessible as possible to as many people as possible.
Our all age services tend to be a bit shorter than usual with tea and coffee and treats after the service. The service usually included some lively music, prayers and a thought to help carry us through the week. We hope there is something there that will inspire everyone.
We run all ager services on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. We want the full family of God to be there, but we are particularly mindful of those with young children who might want to be at worship but find it difficult with a child on their knee. This service will be prefect for you! Come join us as all ages celebrate together.
All Age Nursery Rhyme Communion Service
Holy Communion is the family meal of the people of God. Eucharist (a Greek word) means thanksgiving. During Holy Communion
‘Pilgrim: A Course for the Christian Journey’ is a programme recently published by the Anglican church, with an emphasis on ‘participation, not persuasion’. It is an open programme for everyone on the Christian journey, for those who are new to the journey, and for those who may have been journeying for a long time. We meet fortnightly in the Golden Ball Pub. We gather over food, coffee or something harder if you would prefer, and look at the pilgrim programme together. It’s based on three key ideas:
Thanks to the musical talents of Kevin O’Sullivan our Choir Director and Organist, we are privileged to have a healthy choir who enrich our worship every Sunday. The choir has regular practices on Tuesday at 8:00 to 9:30. As well as weekly worship the choir often participate in one off choral events and regular social activities through the year.
We are frequently looking to add new members to the choir. If you would be interested in singing, please contact Kevin on 087 785 2704
Twice a month we have participation from the junior choir. This is made up of primary school children and is well cherished within the church. Junior choir members practice on Tuesday from 8.15am - 8.45am and on Friday from 8.15am - 8.45am. As well as contributing on Sundays, the junior choir enjoy an annual BBQ and Movie night in the rectory.
If you have a child who is in 1st class or above, and would like to get involved in the junior choir, contact our Choir Director Kevin on 087 7852704.
The greatest pastoral care is the care we give to one another as we love our neighbour as ourselves.
Formal pastoral care is offered through clergy visiting. This is firstly offered to those who are sick or in need. If you would like a pastoral visit, please contact the church office or the rector directly.
Visitation is currently offered through the rector and Carol Barry the Parish Reader, though we hope to increase our pastoral care team in the future.
Anyone wishing to discuss and / or arrange a baptism, a wedding or a funeral should contact the Church Secretary, who will forward details to the Rector, or talk to the rector in person.
